oldest daughter Thekla Marie (by Metall) wins her mare test in Holland and
receives her Keur! She was also invited to Ermelo where she showed very
well. See photos of her and her half siblings below, Wildcard, Windfall, and
Wartimes and her Champion (youngest) colt Zulft.! Marie is proving to be a
fabulous producer! She herself won her keuring in Holland and was 5th at
the National Mare show in Ermelo! Now her only daughter old enough to be
presented under saddle has followed in her footsteps!
Veron is a beautiful, luxurious
stallion with a lot of expression and a very nice head.
Father of Veron is the Son of Quidam
de Revel: Quite Easy, who is jumping at international level and comes
out of the lines of Capitol and Vermont.. His dam, the ‘Keur’ mare
Rinderella, has done an excellent mare test and her first 2 foals are
now both approved stallions. Rinderella’s sire is Caretino, who has
already produced a lot of horses who jump at international level, like
Calandro and Caresino and approved sons like Casall and Caretello. The
dam line has produced several approved stallions and S-jumpers. The full
brother of Veron, Quinta Real is approved as a premium stallion for the
Westfalen Studbook.
Veron has done a good stallion test
and he has proven that he is an honest and reliable stallion to work
with. He has received an 8 for scope.
Veron won the stallion competition of
Hengelo and was 5th in the total results. In all the qualification
rounds he jumped with a lot of scope, elasticity and suppleness.
Expectationindex: 155.
Veron: Luxury, Expression and Quality
combined in one!
LICENSED: Oldenburg, Hanover, Hesse, Rhineland, Baden-Württemberg,
Bavaria, Westphalia and Oldenburg-International.

PEDIGREE: The homozygotically dark Holstein stallion Sandro B,
Silvio I's sire managed to establish himself in Oldenburg within a
very short time. He is a foundation sire of great forcefulness in
terms of type and appearance. Himself an active international
showjumper under Franke Sloothaak, he passed on his exceptional
jumping ability to his progeny. The dam Gelbkatze is a daughter of
the chestnut-stallion Gepard who has had a lasting influence on
Paul Schockemolhle's herd of mares. Gepard was a son of the
outstanding sire of showjumpers Gotthard. The same mating
combination of Gelbkatze-Sandro B produced the full-brother Silvio
II, who m 1993 absolved his stallion performance test in Medingen
with the highest jumping index of the year. The grandam
Rhododendron who derives from the fabulously handsome thoroughbred
Ballboy xx was mated with Palermo, to produce the vice-champion of
the year 1987, P.S. Palm Springs, who was sold at the PSI auction
for an absolutely top price and later became an advanced class
showjumper. Silvio I and II derive from the venerable Oldenburg
damline of Rodenande, which i.a. also produced the approved
stallions Going for Gold, Grannus-Grande and Weltstar.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
PERFORMANCE: Silvio 1 absolved his stallion performance test in
Adelheidsdorf in 1990, receiving particularly high scores for his
jumping ability. He was awarded the I-b main premium by the
Oldenburg Association in 1991.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
PROGENY: His first few crops of foals already produced absolutely
top foals in series which frequently enriched the auction podium
in Vechta. His first batch gave rise to the approved son Sunrise (Dillenburg
state stallion). One of the climaxes of Silvio I's young siring
career was the 1995 Oldenburg stallion approval, where he
presented the vice-champion Sir Lui, an additional premium
stallion Sesostres, as well as Sinatra Gold. 1996 likewise was a
harvest year for Silvio I, whose daughter Tettina was overall
champion of the European Mare Championships in Brussels. She is
only one of the numerous daughters awarded the state premium. Sir
Louis was vice-champion of the Redefin stallion performance test
and he triumphed once more at the Oldenburg approval with Sir
Holtrup and Sergeant Pepper who were awarded the breeding licence
and landed in the premium lot. Both were respectively, the winners
of their stallion performance test. Sergeant Pepper was state
riding horse champion and a highly placed federal championship
finalist both in 1997 and 1998. In 1998 he was awarded the I-a
main premium. In the following years, further Silvio I sons
received their breeding licences in Oldenburg, including the
highly ranked premium stallion Sterntanzer, who won the 2000
stallion performance test in Neustadt/Dosse. In 2000, Silvio I was
represented by two sons in Oldenburg once again, including
Sergeant Pepper's full-brother, Spider Murphy and a premium
stallion who is destined to go into the services of the HLG
Neustadt/Dosse. The biggest success in 1999 was achieved by
Sternstunde: Reserve champion of 6-year-old jumping horses at the
FEI World Breeding Championships in Zangersheide. In 2001 it was
Shutterfly who did credit to his sire. He took Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum
to victory at the German Ladies Show Jumping Championship. Silvio
is recognised for lifetime for the Hanoverian Jumping Horse
Breeding Programme.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
STUD MANAGERS RECOMMENDATIONS: Silvio is the most prominent
representative of the "Sandro Dynasty" who is currently
in great demand. He is known for passing on "type"
qualities and natural performance abilities of a versatile nature.

Florestan (by United), a grandson of Marie Louise elite pref,
is selected for the Elite Foal auction in Borculo. Great news and it proves the
excellence of her off-spring.
Silvio
passed stallion performance test at Adelheidsdorf in 1990
ranking 7th out of 70 stallions. He was 30th in Dressage and
2nd in jumping scoring a jumping index of 138.78. According
to 2000's FN yearbook he is holding a dressage index of 129,
jumping index 107, total index 118. While his most
successful children are all showing jumpers there also have
to be a lot of progeny that is more talented for dressage
(see dressage index).
So far he has produced 13 licensed stallions 12 of them
approved: Sergeant Pepper, Simba, Sir Landadel, Sterntänzer,
Sesostris, Sinatra, Sir Lui, Sunday Boy, Silentio, Sir
Holtrup, Sir Oliver H and Sunrise. There are 17 daughters
who received an SP-award.
Regarding breed value there are significantly positive
indices for how he improves type and riding horse points
(142), improvement of limbs (107) and jumping talent (164)
while the dressage ability is considered average in his get.
Interestingly enough this data differs from his breed value
due to offspring in competition which brought him a way
above average dressage breed value. This might indicate his
offspring takes longer to develop and is rather successful
in actual dressage tests than material classes and other
young horse tests.
2003 update: Dressage index 111 jumping index 123. Daughters
registered as broodmars with the Hanoverian Verband 94. 14
of them SPA/SPS.

Marie
Louise—Elite Preferent Marie
Louise’s Story
Sporting
Chance Farm (SCF) imported her with the help of the Nijhof's in 2000. She is
by the highly regarded Sandro Z son, Silvio 1, best known as the sire of the
World Class Showjumper, "Shutterfly" ridden by Meredith Micheals
Beerbam, and as a producer of type and talent. Marie Louise Elite Preferent's
dam line is a very successful one which goes back to a very important mare in
the KWPN "Roosmarie" who is listed as one of the most influential
mares in the Netherlands. This motherline is responsible for more than 15 Appr.
Stallions and a lot of good Sport Horses such as Ihorn, Glenn, Goldster, and
Bockmans Exile.
Marie
Louise Elite Preferent herself was Champion
of her Keuring in Holland, and was invited
to the National Mare Show at Ermelo where she finished Fifth. She then went on
to do an excellent 30 day "Mare Test" where she achieved marks such
as an 8.5 for her walk, and 8's for jumping etc., with no score lower than a
7.3. She is a true "All Around horse". Marie's first daughter in the
Netherlands, Thekla Marie by Metall (now Keur Elite herself), was Reserve
Champion of her Keuring, was invited just like her mother to Ermelo, and then
went on to WIN her Mare Performance Test in the Netherlands! Thekla Marie has
had two very succesful foals herself, with her Florencio filly. Zenia Marie
being named the CHAMPION KWPN filly in England. Thekla Marie's Sandro Hit colt
Cest la Vie, just sold last month at the Prestigious Borculo auction for
23,000 Euros.
Marie's
first American conceived daughter, Wildcard Prov Keur (Goodtimes VDL), was
shown very successfully in hand at the USDF shows AND in Hunter Breeding. She
was the Winner of the Hunter Breeding Yearling Futurity (among other HB wins),
and then was awarded the "Best Mover (dressage)" award at the Iron
Spring Farm Keuring in 2006. She then went on to be awarded her
"Provisional Keur", and finished fourth in the USA for both Movement
AND Jumping on the Top Ten List for the KWPN-NA. Also in 2006 Wildcard won the
USDF KWPN 3 year old Filly Materiale (US) Horse of the Year Championship. She
was also second under saddle at DAD in the Materiale classes in 2006. Wildcard
went on to WIN the Dressage at Devon Broodmare class in 2007 with an 85% which
earned her the USA Bred Born in the USA High Score Championship at DAD!
Wildcard's first (and only) foal Carte Blanche SCF (by Lupicor) was the Top
Scoring Jumper foal at the Iron Spring Farm Keuring. Widcard, like her dam, is
truly an "All Around" athlete.....
Marie
Louise's son Zulft (Ulft Keur) has won numerous Championships and Awards
including 2006 USDF Horse of the Year Championship (Res CH for 2005), many
Breed Show Championships including the Res. Champion Born in the USA High
Point award at DAD as a foal, and then after numerous Top Ten placings at the
KWPN-NA Keurings, was awarded his Ster and the "Best Dressage Horse"
Award at the ISF Keuring in 2007. Marie Louise's other offspring include Breed
Show Champions, and many First Premiums for horses like Wartimes (Goodtimes),
Bleu (Balou du Rouet), Bravo (Indoctro Pref), Cest la Vie (Balou du Rouet)
etc. Marie Louise's offspring have also won her Produce of Dam classes. Her
offspring, although still young, have sold to Grand Prix professionals in both
the Dressage, and the Show Jumping Arenas, where they are cherished for their
athleticism AND wonderful temperaments and desire to please.
Marie
Louise Elite Preferent has been incredibly fertile (an important trait for a
broodmare!), and with the help of Embryo Transfer, is expecting THREE foals in
2008, a Krack C., a Quicksilber (by Quattro), and another Balou du Rouet).
She
has been bred to incredibly diverse stallions (Metall, Goodtimes, Ulft, Balou
du Rouet, Indoctro etc.), and every one of her foals is spectacular. She is
the dam and grand dam of multiple Champions in THREE countries (Netherlands,
England, and the USA). Marie is also largely responsible for Sporting Chance
Farm's successes and directly influenced our receipt of the "Breeders of
the Year" Awards in 2006 for the KWPN-NA, AND the USDF Res CH Breeders of
the Year. On top of that, she is an ANGEL to have around, and plays
"Auntie Marie" to the numerous foals born at Sporting Chance Farm
every year. Marie actually babysits and herds the foals back to their mothers
when they stray too far away or get into trouble, and helps to keep peace and
order in our pastures at all times. Marie is kind, and beautiful, and an
incredible athlete and producer.....In short, Marie Louise Elite
Pref is known around SCF as the "Goose that laid the Golden Egg(s)",
and we are SO fortunate to have her.....

Marie Louise Elite with her Ulft keur
colt Zulft! (Zulft was First Premium and a WINNER at DAD 2004!)
This is her daughter Thekla Marie that
was Reserve Champion at her keuring in Holland and was invited to Ermelo where
she did very well. She is in foal to the stallion "Sensation", also
known as "Florencio".
Thekla Marie is a full sister to our filly
"Unforgettable" who we sold last week. Thekla Marie was awarded a
provisional keur and will be doing her performance test next month in Holland.
She has already passed her x-rays.
Just thought you would be interested in

Marie Louise is a
Keur Elite Mare by Silvio 1 out of a Sit This One Out xx X Saluut Star, Keur,
Preferent, Prestatsie, mare line. She was 5th in Holland
as a three year old at
the National Mare Show. Marie's IBOP test was successfully completed with good
scores, including 8.5 for her walk, and an 8 for jumping technique.
We would like to
thank Jeannette Nijhof for her assistance in finding and purchasing this
beautiful mare!
Super Shutterfly shines light on
Meredith There were standing ovations
for native Californian Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum after her impressive win of
the Budweiser World Cup aboard the best horse of the moment, the Hannoverian
gelding Shutterfly. Meredith came to Vegas as the first leading lady of the
FEI rankings. She has won major Grand Prix, gold medals with the German team
at all the championships over the last eight years to secure her first
individual title. Shutterfly (Silvio I x Forrest xx) knocked down only one
rail over the four difficult courses in the small arena of the Thomas &
Mack Center. What seemed to become a breathtaking jump-off between Shutterfly
and Baloubet du Rouet ended in an anticlimax when the French stallion, ridden
by Rodrigo Pessoa, dropped two rails in the final round on Sunday. Michael
Whitaker and the 11-year old Dutch mare Portofino (Habsburg x Orthos) finished
both rounds with only one time-penalty not allowing Shutterfly, as last
starter, to drop one rail. But the very scopey jumping-bean jumped freely with
his ears forward, attacking every fence like it was a fun game for him to
clear the course and bring the title to Germany. Portofino was followed by the
German mares Gitania (by Capitol I) and Lucie (by Landadel) tied for third.
Kimberley Frey made the right choice not to start her mare Marlou at the
Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. Frey saved her mare for the indoors
to win the $150.000 GP in Charlotte as a warm up for Las Vegas. Frey became
the highest placed rider for the home squad finishing fifth in the gambling
capital of the world. Marlou, the 11 year old mare by 1996 gold medallist Jus
de Pomme, is for sure one of the best jumper mares in the world at this time.
The chestnut mare has the true type of a jumper, is quick, competitive, scopey
with a beautiful technique. The crowd watching the jumping finals recognized
her qualities and supported the mare and Kimberley every time they entered the
ring. Illian, the 15-year old mount of Schuyler Riley, proved he belonged to
the best by finishing in 12th position after the final round. The gelding by
Zuidhorn was the world champion seven-year old in Lanaken, won the
Invitational twice and jumped Vegas in his best form. This jumping final was
maybe not the best represented by Dutch horses, but the results - finishing
second, fifth and twelfth - were satisfying.
>>1990 Silvio passed the
stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, where he scored especially good
results for his jumping ability. In 1991 he won the 1b main premium of the
Oldenburger breed society.
Right from the first crop, he presented top foals with 3 of them being top
priced lots at the Dammer Mai sales in 1992 and at the PSI auction the filly,
Stars and Stripes, was the top priced foal of all time. In 1993 Siegertyp was
sold in Vechta for DM 20,000 as well as Sternstunde for DM 30,000.
Sire Sandro was a highly
successful international show jumper. The dam Gelbkatze is by the
chestnut stallion Gepard who thoroughly influenced Paul Schockemohle's
broodmare band.

Sired by Sandro B our of Gelbkatze F. Comes from Holsteiner blood. Full
brother Silvio II was tested in 1993. Silvio I was an active showjumper
under Franke Sloothaak and passes on his exceptional jumping ability to
his progeny. He has some approved sons...I found Sergeant Pepper (his
scores were 1st of 33-147.47, dressage-146.0 and jumping-131.0)was the
most well known. Also according to this book it states that Silvio I was
the most distinguised Sandro son. Also from this bloodline is Sandro
Song (son of Sandro B) who is the sire of Sandro Hit...a dressage
stallion. Sandro Hit was the 6 yr old Dressage Horse World Champion
in 1999 and winner of the Best Young Stallion in 2000!
**influential thoroughbred Sit This
One Out's offspring have achieved considerable success at dressage in
The Netherlands, earning him a dressage breeding index of 126.
Silvio
Silvio
is the most prominent representative of the "Sandro Dynasty" who is
currently in great demand. He is known for passing on "type"
qualities and natural performance abilities of a versatile nature.
His progeny are making headlines year on year: In 1996, Tettina became
European Champion at the international mare show in Brussels. In 1998, Toviana
became reserve Champion at the same event (in the individual rating and in the
breed area rating).
Sir Louis was reserve champion in Oldenburg in 1995, in 1996 it was Sergeant
Pepper, three times successful at German National Young Horse Championships
and "Hauptprämien"-Champion (1998). Sterntänzer (alias Solo
Player), a former top lot at the foal auction and award-winning stallion in
1998, was also twice successful at National Young Horse Championhips.
The biggest success in 1999 was achieved by Sternstunde: Reserve champion of
6-year-old jumping horses at the FEI World Breeding Championships in
Zangersheide.
In 2001 it was Shutterfly who did credit to his sire. He took Meredith
Michaels-Beerbaum to victory at the German Ladies Show Jumping Championship.
Silvio is recognised for lifetime for the Hanoverian Jumping Horse Breeding
Programme.

Sire of...SERGEANT PEPPER !
An
exciting young stallion; typey and
full of personality, Sergeant Pepper
was Reserve Champion at the
Oldenburger Korung in 1996. He
was Champion of the Oldenburger
Landeschampionats in 1997 for
riding horses and fifth place in
the Federal Bundeschampionats
in 1997. He was then Champion of
his stallion perfomance test with
147.5 points. He shows great
aptitude for dressage, but with his
strong Holsteiner pedigree he also
shows talent over fences.
SERGEANT
PEPPER has received the highly prized award of
1a Main Premium Champion of 4 1/2 year old stallions.
(1a Hauptpraemiensieger) awarded for the outstanding
quality of his first foal crop. They are described as being full
of type with outstanding movement and correct foundation.
He has a high percentage of premium foals. He was a
finalist and Bronze medalist in the 98 Bundeschampion
at and got the high prize as best approved and 100 days'
tested stallion at the Bundeschampionat (of all breeds).
He was invited by the Hannoverian Verband to be
part of the jumping horse breeding program
(Programm Hannoveraner Springpferdezucht).
He also was Oldenburger Landeschampion 1998.
It is through Sandro that the blood of Sacramento Song lives
on and daily grows more influential in both dressage and jumping breeding.
Sacramento Song was a classically bred English Thoroughbred, who stood in
Holstein from
1973 to his early death in 1979. He is described in Dr Dietrich
Rossow’s Stallion Book of the Holsteiner Warmblood Breed as: "A
classically bred, English Thoroughbred, with beautiful, smoothly harmonious
topline. Beautiful head,
rather low set on neck, impressive shoulder with good
coupling to the croup. Well muscled, strong legs and feet, sufficient gaits.
Tremendous jumping ability, very tight with front end and good with
knees."
Dr Rossow was of the opinion that he bred: ‘Very good temperaments, keen,
energetic dispositions, often rather hot. Stallions and geldings steadier in
competition than mares, who were often ‘witchy’. Top jumper sire!’
Alas as a private stallion he was only sparingly used by the Holstein breeders
to their later regret. By 1990 with progeny earnings of DM696,000 he was the
8th most successful post-war Thoroughbred sire in Germany! Sacramento
Song had
31 competitors with placings, 29 of which were showjumpers. After his death
three exceptional sons were licensed on the grounds of their competition
results: Sympatico, Sacramento Son and Sandro.
Bent Neergaard is a very respected Danish breeder, he is also the man who
‘discovered’ Sandro.
"I first saw Sandro when he was two and an half years old. He was
presented at the Holsteiner stallion selection and was not accepted. So with
one of my friends we bought him and took him to Denmark. We presented him at
the licensing
and he was approved and then did a very good 100 days test. A
couple of years later he went over to the famous eventing rider, Nils
Haagensen. He did quite well with him, but he was probably better for
showjumping, so he was handed
over to my partner who took him jumping
internationally."
"In Denmark, he was based at Fumen, but it wasn’t really the right
place for him. There were a lot of old Oldenburger heavy horses – we thought
it would be the right place for him but it wasn’t. Then he moved to the
southern of Jutland, close to
Germany, a Holsteiner area. He covered some
Holsteiner mares and with them, he was really good. But still he wasn’t
accepted all over Denmark – he only had a few progeny from the first years
and it wasn’t easy to get him accepted by the breeding association or the
breeders."
"He was sold to Paul Schockemöhle, and he understood the quality of the
horse. There is quite a lot of Thoroughbred in this horse, and they can be a
little bit loose in front, but it was a modern horse. I think he was ten years
in advance of his time, even in Denmark. Schockemöhle
could see exactly the
potential of that horse, the modern type with long legs, good riding
capability – and he mixed him with the right mares, the mares with the
German ‘G’ blood. Now you can see Sandro blood in all the major breeding
associations all over the world."
What caught your eye?
"I had been in the army for many years, and also worked with horses for
many years. I liked lighter horses than most of the breeders in those days. I
liked his eyes and his beautiful head, I liked this very fine looking horses
– and I liked the blood also, I thought he could
be a very good performance
horse. In those days, the breeders didn’t look enough at performance, and I
thought he would bring in some performance."
"In a stallion the most important thing is performance. But as a breeder
you cannot sell horses unless you have good-looking horses. So you have to
look for performance, for a good-looking horse, and you have to look for a
horse that is very calm and good in the head as well.
You cannot say ‘only
performance’ or ‘only beautiful’ or ‘only temperament’ – you need
all these things."
When he moved to Paul Schockemöhle’s stud, Sandro also met up with Franke
Sloothaak who continued his jumping career for lifetime winnings of DM55,000.
As a sire, Sandro has also been a considerable success, with three of his
progeny competing at the 1994 WEG in The Hague – Sandro Song (Ante Smlesa),
Safari (Michael Abo) and Paradiso (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson). Sandro is the sire
of more than 40 licensed sons,
the most successful being Silvio 1 and II,
Sandro Song, Sao Paulo, Sandro Boy and Salido Z.
Successful competitors include; Salido Z (Debbie Stepyhens), Sagrat (Guy
Goosen), Sakrus (Debbie Winkler), Sympathico (Ersting-Engemann), Silas M (Yanix
Elad), Sheila and Sundance Kid (Franke Sloothaak) and Santorin F (Fritz
Fervers).
As a broodmare sire Sandro has also been exceptionally successful: Lasango
(Kurt Reinacher), San Serai Funky Town (Björn Nagel), Lausano (René Tebbel),
Risandro (Samantha McIntosh), Filias (Arnoldo Bologni), High Class (Royne
Zettermann), Cappucino and Santa Fe (Marco Kutscher),
Grand Soso (Markus
Fuchs), Grand Soso II (Ulrik Kjaer) and High Stepper (Maria Gretzer) – all
Grand Prix showjumpers, all out of daughters of Sandro.
Sandro Z is unique in that he is the only stallion son of the cross of
Sacramento Song and Wahnfried – a cross that has also been very successful
in producing dams of stallions. The stallions Lavell I and II, Atlantas Z and
Campione, as well as international jumping horses, Cathleen
(Meredith Beerbaum
– then Michaels) and Zigeunerin (Rodrigo Pessoa) all came from that cross.
Sandro’s dam, Dürte is the full sister of one of the most successful
Puissance horses ever – Wabbs. Durte is also the dam of Harvey Smith’s
Salvador.
Silvio I was the winner of the Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1990, with
very high marks for his jumping ability. Silvio has been the sire of a number
of impressive stallion sons including Sunrise, Sir Lui, Sir Holtrup, Sergeant
Pepper and Spider Murphy.
What is slightly more surprising is Sandro’s influence on dressage breeding.
If we look at the stallions represented in the most recent (2004/5) Eylers’
German Stallion book, we find the jumping stallions, San Brasil (by Sao
Paulo), Sandro Boy (out of a Grannus mare) and Santander H
(out of a Contender
mare) but there are more stallions promoted for dressage – all sons of World
Young Horse Dressage Champion, Sandro Hit. There is Samba Hit (Reserve
Champion at the 2002 Bundeschampionate in the 3 year old stallion class –
and a full brother to
World Six Year Old Young Dressage Champion, Poetin),
Show Star (who was Champion in that 3 year old stallion class in 2002), the
Westfalien state stud stallions, Sir Bedo and Sterling, the exciting young
Danish stallion, Blue Hors Soprano, and Stedinger, a winner at the
2002
Oldenburg Stallion Days, and being out of a Landadel / Furioso bred mare,
Stedinger might be that rare creature, an all-round stallion.
Of his dressage performers, Isabell Weth’s Satchmo by the Sandro son, Sao
Paulo, is the most successful.
At the age of 29, Sandro – now re-christened Sandro Z – stands at the
famous Zangersheide stud, where he is rightly regarded as one of the treasures
of modern performance horse breeding.
Silvio I was the winner of the Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1990, with

of impressive stallion sons including Sunrise,
