FL--January 12, 1998-- According to the 1998 Dressage Sires report published by
the Sport Horse Owners and Breeders Association.
Wanroij (Symphonie), posted the
highest overall average median score of 69.098, leading the Westphalian,
Puritano (Palisander) and the Georgia-based Hanoverian, Prefix (Pascha). The
overall ranking is based on the average of the median scores for offspring
competing at all levels for any stallion represented by 3 or more horses.
The Dressage Sires report catalogs
over 1,500 dressage horses which competed and were ranked by USDF during 1997.
These horses represent 1,139 sires of dressage horses of all breeds, from
American Bashkir Curly to Welsh crosses.
The chestnut stallion was bred by A.A. v/d Koppel and born on June 4, 1980,
in the Netherlands. He was approved in 1983, placing 10th out of 22 stallions at
his performance test in Ermelo. He was imported to the US in 1984 by Tony and
Betty de Groot and started his successful sport and breeding career in 1985.
He sired a total of 146 registered offspring (72 fillies and 74 colts). At
the keuringen 32 offspring received one or more First Premiums under the age of
three. Sixteen offspring made it into the Top Ten. Of his daughters 29 were
accepted into the studbook, 13 received the star predicate, 6 are now keur and 2
are preferent. He also sired 22 studbook quality and 8 star quality geldings.
Wanroij showed through Intermedaire level himself and sired numerous
offspring that are also successful in sport. On the USDF Sire list 1989-1999
Wanroij was tied for 11th place for Dutch stallions. He has offspring competing
successfully at all levels in dressage.
